About Universal Coordinated Time's time zone
UTC isn't tied to any single place — it's the reference standard every time zone's offset is measured against, maintained with atomic clocks and adjusted periodically with leap seconds to stay aligned with the Earth's rotation. It differs from GMT mainly in mechanism: GMT was historically defined by the sun's position over Greenwich, while UTC is defined by atomic time, though in practice the two agree to within a second.
