About Mumbai's time zone
India has used one nationwide time zone, UTC+5:30, since 1947, based on a reference meridian near Allahabad roughly midway between the country's easternmost and westernmost points. The half-hour offset is unusual internationally, and India has never observed daylight saving time despite spanning nearly two geographic time zones east to west.
