About Hong Kong's time zone
Hong Kong has used UTC+8 since 1904. A wartime shift to UTC+9 under Japanese occupation (1941-1945) and a brief postwar daylight-saving trial were both later abandoned, and the territory has kept a fixed offset ever since — unaffected by mainland China's separate standardisation on Beijing Time.
