About Auckland's time zone
New Zealand was one of the earliest adopters of modern daylight saving, first proposed by Wellington scientist George Hudson in 1895 and trialled nationally in 1927 before lapsing and being reinstated permanently in 1974. As a Southern Hemisphere country, its DST period runs late September to early April — opposite the Northern Hemisphere's schedule.
