About Istanbul's time zone
Turkey observed seasonal daylight saving for decades before moving permanently to UTC+3 in 2016 — effectively keeping summer time year-round instead of changing clocks twice a year. The move was framed as cutting the twice-yearly scheduling disruption, though it also means Istanbul mornings stay darker for longer in midwinter than before.
