About Johannesburg's time zone
South Africa has used a single fixed offset, UTC+2, since standardising its time zones in 1892 and refining the reference meridian in 1903. It has never observed daylight saving time — this far from the poles, the seasonal swing in day length is too small to make shifting clocks worthwhile.
