About Seoul's time zone
South Korea has used UTC+9 for most of its modern history, with one notable exception: from 1954 to 1961 it ran on UTC+8:30 at the direction of the postwar US military government before reverting. Seoul does not observe daylight saving time — a trial around the 1988 Seoul Olympics was not repeated.
